BINTULU: One of the holiday chalets at Similajau National Park caught fire early yesterday morning. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation Centre (PGO), the chalet was empty and not rented out when the fire broke out.
The last time the chalet was rented out was on June 30 this year. A team of Bintulu firemen rushed to the scene after responding to a distress call at 5.59am yesterday.
However, the fire had destroyed the chalet when they reached the scene, despite the heavy downpour.
Investigations are underway to determine the actual cause of the incident.
