BINTULU: A devastating fire broke out late this morning, destroying five squatters’ houses near Saberkas Market at Jalan Samalaju, here.
The Sarawak Fire Operation Centre received an alert on the incident at 11.45 am.
Firefighters from Bintulu station responded swiftly to the scene, to extinguish the blaze.
There were no reports of injuries or casualties while the number of persons living in the squatter homes has yet to be ascertained.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is reportedly underway.
