KUCHING: A fire tore through two homes in Bintawa Village late Wednesday Aug 14) night, leaving one residence completely destroyed and another severely damaged.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) the fire, which broke out at around 9.51 pm, was reported at Lorong 7, Bintawa Kotak, Jalan Bintawa Tengah.

“The fire completely engulfed a house belonging to a 59-year-old, reducing it to ashes. Meanwhile, a neighbouring house owned by a 27-year-old suffered significant damage, with the upper floor of the structure being heavily burned.

“Firefighters utilising a 300-foot relay pumping system to transfer water from Petra Jaya to the Tabuan truck. Two hoses were deployed, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant,” it said.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, as the occupants managed to escape unharmed.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the financial loss are still under investigation.
