ASAJAYA: A family of eight were made homeless after their home in Kampung Jemukan Hulu was engulfed by flames yesterday (Nov 16).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as the tenants evacuated to safety in the 5.40pm incident.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Asajaya station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call.
In addition, firefighters from Kota Samarahan station were also sent to assist in the operation.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that the two-storey house was beyond saving.
The team used a nearby open water source to extinguish the blaze and conducted overhaul works to prevent any potential reignition.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 7.28pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
