MIRI: A fire broke out at the Kuala Baram dockyard today (Nov 5), severely damaging a ship under construction.
The Sarawak Fire Operations Centre received a distress call at approximately 3.18 pm.
Firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station, aided by the Lopeng Fire Brigade, responded swiftly to the scene.
The blaze, which primarily affected the cockpit area, was brought under control within an hour.
Approximately 60 per cent of the structure was damaged.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the full extent of the damage.
