Fire leaves family of seven homeless

MIRI: A family of seven was left homeless after a fire destroyed their house yesterday.

The incident happened in Tudan Phase 2, Kuala Baram here.

According to Miri Zone 6 fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, a team of eight firemen from Lopeng fire station was immediately dispatched to the scene in response to a call at 5.44am.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the fire had already engulfed 90 percent of the house,” said Law.

They managed to bring the fire under control at 6.40am.

“No one was injured as all inhabitants managed to escape when the fire broke out, but their car which was parked in the porch was completely burnt,” he said.

The cause of the incident is still unknown and is being investigated.
