KANOWIT: A residence housing six families was completely burnt down in a fire incident this morning at Pasar Machan, Kanowit.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation commander told that the house measuring 40 x 40 square feet was completely burnt down around 10.50am.

All that remained after the flames died.

Six families consisting of thirty-three victims were not injured in the fire and were relocated temporarily in Machan Multipurpose Hall, Kanowit.

The firefighting operation was led by Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Bujang and nine firefighters assisted by five members of Machan Bomba Volunteers Unit.

Present at the scene were Assistant Fire Superintendent Arrahman Chik (Bomba Kanowit Station chief), the Royal Malaysian Police, Sarawak Energy (Sesco) and Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM).
