TUBAU: A 12-door longhouse — Rumah Rentap — at Sungai Rasan here was razed by fire on Monday (May 24)
Bintulu fire chief Christus Buson said a distress call was received at 2.59pm.
“Upon firefighters arrival at the scene, about 91km from the station, the fire had already caused 70 percent damage to the longhouse.
“The firemen managed to save the kitchen area (30 percent) from being destroyed,” he said.
No casualties were reported in the incident as the occupants managed to get out to safety.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are yet to be ascertained.
