MIRI: An empty wooden house at Kampung Lereng Bukit, Jalan Miri Pujut here, was engulfed in an afternoon blaze today.
There were no injuries or casualties reported in the 1.40pm incident.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Miri and Lopeng stations were dispatched to the scene, about 4km away, after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they found that the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed using water sourced from their fire trucks.
The flames were brought under control at 2.23pm, followed by overhaul works to ensure that there was no risk of reignition.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
