LAWAS: Three families were left homeless after their house in Kampung Long Tukan Trusan was engulfed by fire last night (Feb 4).
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the 9.33 pm incident as eight people from the three families managed to evacuate to safety.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said firefighters from the Lawas fire station were dispatched to the scene, located around 27km, away after receiving a distress call.
Firefighters found that a double-storey house was 60 per cent destroyed and the firefighters proceeded to douse the fire using water sourced from the nearby pond.
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
