LAWAS: Firemen receiving a distress call rushed at 9.15pm tonight (Sept 15) to a block of shops along Jalan Datu Taie which was engulfed in flames.
According to Sarawak fire and rescue operations centre, they received an earlier information that there was a lantern festival being held nearby the place moments before the fire was spotted engulfing the building.
But this has yet to be confirmed.
As at publication time, firemen led by PB Ayatollah Juba are still battling the flames.
