SIBU: Two double-storey terraced houses were destroyed in an afternoon fire today (Dec 20).
One fire engine and eight firefighters led by PKPgB Suna Kaha were rushed to the scene at Jalan Chong San Lanang, here, upon being alerted of the incident at 12.05 pm.
They managed to bring the fire under control at about 12.17 pm.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
It is learnt that 14 people occupied the two units, two of whom were senior citizens aged 60 and above.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, the first house sustained 60 percent damages, and the second, 20 percent.
The cause of the fire and losses are being investigated.
