Fire victims get help from ministry

KUCHING: Six fire victims in Sibu received assistance from the Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development.

Its minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the family received six packs of dry food (RM50 per pack), six sets of sleeping equipment (RM100 per set) and two sets of kitchenware (RM700 per set) today.

“The surviving family members also received the Tabung Bantuan Segera (TBS) to help them in their daily lives,” she said.

Apart from that, Fatimah added that monetary assistance would also be provided to the survivors.

On Tuesday, six family members survive a fire that destroyed two houses at Jalan Burung Belibis, Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku Phase 1, happened around 7.50 pm.

Three other family members ― Sima Abdullah, 20, Abdullah Bus, 64, and Rasidah Suut, 80 ― perished in the fire incident.

Fatimah expressed her condolences to the survivors who lost their loved ones in the fire, and hoped them the best in getting through hard times.
