KUCHING: Several families who were victims to a fire in Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman early morning Tuesday (Sept 28) heaved a sigh of relief as they received the needed assistances from their local elected representative.
Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni presented the contributions to the fire victims recently.
He said the assistance package distributed to the families included basic necessities, food supply as well as monetary aid.
He added, the assistance to repair the affected homes will be doled out soon and that the Social Welfare Department (JKM), Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) and other non-government organisations (NGOs) will also be giving assistance.
Also present during the presentation of assistance were Penghulu Jarawi Ilias, village head Wan Sahapudin Wan Abu Kassim, the Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman’s village safety and development committee (JKKK) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) committee members.
In the 9.10am incident on Tuesday, a total of three houses were razed due to a short circuit. However, the fire victims managed to escape unscathed.
