SRI AMAN: A fire assistance project, meant to help fire victims build residences here, is now done.

The longhouse razed in a fire last year was Annie Longhouse in Kampung Semawa Ulu, Pantu. Now the dwelling has been restored or replaced and the project is considered completed.

Sri Aman District Office and Public Works Department (JKR) on Tuesday handed over the certificate of completion while keeping a check on the results of the project to ensure it was well executed.

In the fire tragedy last year, a total of 12 families of Annie Longhouse lost their homes.

Three of the 12 families each received assistance amounting to RM70,000 while the other families were assisted with building materials donations.

Also present were Sri Aman District Office administrative officer Philomena Asin, Sri Aman Resident Office administrative officer Jackline Medan Ikom, Sri Aman Public Works Department engineer Herman Alishah, An-Nas Company manager (contractor) and Semawa Hulu longhouse chief Annie William.
