SIBU: Fire victims of Rumah Dingon Medong longhouse in Sekuau Settlement Scheme are advised not to go near the fire site to search for their belongings.

Dalat district police chief DSP Saga Chunggat yesterday warned that the act of approaching the fire area was unsafe for any individual as the case is still under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and the police.

Saga said the victims should instead lodge a police report should their personal documents were destroyed in the fire.

“We advise all affected residents to make a report at Stapang Police Station to facilitate documentation of important documents that were destroyed, including some other losses,” he told reporters after visiting the fire site yesterday morning.
