TELANG USAN: Fire and rescue officers are encouraged to enhance their skills in sports and leadership to ensure the success of various programmes.

Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau said sports activities are crucial for maintaining the health of Fire and Rescue officers, as they need to stay fit and healthy.

“The challenges faced by firefighters have increased as they do not just extinguish fires.

“They also perform rescue duties and that is why the scope of their work and responsibilities has expanded,” he said.

He said this after attending the second edition of Closed Sepak Takraw competition at the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station (Chief of Station Challenge Trophy) at the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station on Saturday (September 28).

During the same programme, Dennis urged the staff of Lutong Fire and Rescue Station  to hold open days more frequently so that the residents in their area of responsibility can familiarise themselves with the station’s location.
