KUALA LUMPUR: The remains of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24, have been moved from the National Heart Institute (IJN) to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for a post-mortem, said Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.
She said Muhammad Adib’s parents had given their consent for the post-mortem to be carried out.
Speaking to reporters at the IJN yesterday morning, Zuraida said Muhammad Adib’s remains would be taken to his hometown in Kedah once the post-mortem and funeral management completed.
In view of the latest development, the original plan to bring his remains to the Jalan Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Department for his friends and loved ones to pay their final respects as stated by Zuraida at her earlier press conference was cancelled.
In the early morning of Nov 27, Muhammad Adib, who was also a member of the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station’s Emergency, Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, was critically injured after he was allegedly assaulted by several people during the riots near the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, USJ 25, Subang Jaya.
Muhammad Adib and his fellow firefighters were involved in an emergency operation near the temple.
“As promised, the government will provide assistance to Muhammad Adib’s family,” said Zuraida after paying her last respects.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said his ministry would provide the best team to carry out the post-mortem.– Bernama
