KUCHING: Firefighters faced challenging conditions today (Jan 3) as they navigated a narrow road to tackle a house fire in Kampung Hulu Sungai Bintawa, Jalan Demak here.

Responding swiftly to the incident which occurred around 12.25pm, firemen from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations were promptly dispatched to the scene.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said the blaze resulted in a complete destruction of the uninhabited wooden house.

The team had encountered difficulties reaching the site, grappling with the constraints of a narrow road suitable only for small vehicles.

In response, they loaded extinguishing equipment and pumps onto their pick-up vehicles to access the location.

Faced with a shallow water source at a nearby ditch, the team could only use buckets to carry out the extinguishing operation.

After ensuring the situation was under control, the operation concluded at 2.10pm.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
