KUCHING: Firefighters saved a barge from severe damage after a fire broke out at the engine room of the barge on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 9.00pm at a wharf at Jalan Semangat in Bintawa here.
Eight firefighters in a fire engine from Tabuan Jaya fire station led Senior Fire Officer II Nurzainuldin rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9.06pm.
The firefighters arrived at the scene at 9.17pm and the fire was brought under control within 90 minutes.
No casualties and injuries were reported and the operation ended at 12.10am.
The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained as at press time.
