KUCHING: Firefighters had a busy afternoon when a house in Padawan and a car in Bintulu caught fire on Wednesday (Feb 16).

In Padawan, firefighters from Siburan were deployed to Kampung Sion, Jalan Kuching-Serian after receiving a distress call at 1.05pm regarding a house on fire.

Fire station chief Nazry Mohamat said the fire had caused 90 per cent damage to the house, which was uninhabited.

The team quickly douse the flames before conducting checks to ensure that the fire was completely put out.

Over in Bintulu, firemen from Samalaju station were dispatched to Ladang Samudera after receiving an emergency call around 1.35pm.

Upon arriving, they confirmed that the engine of a car caught fire and farm workers had extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher.

The team took over the scene to ensure that the situation was safe before heading back to the station.

No injuries or casualties were reported in both incidents.

The cause of the fire for both cases is still under investigation.
