KUCHING: A total of 36,106 students from Sarawak are sitting for their SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) examinations which commenced yesterday until this Dec 13.
Out of this, 33,645 or 93.18 per cent are from national or government secondary schools (SMK), 1,063 or 2.94 per cent are from private secondary schools and 1,398 or 3.88 per cent are private candidates.
The examination is being held at 275 centres, involving 212 government secondary schools, 13 private secondary schools and 50 private centres throughout the state.
A total of 277 area supervisors and 2,140 invigilators have been appointed to handle the examination at all centres statewide.
