BUDAPEST: Sandor Schwarz, the first Hungarian who was given a heart transplant surgery in Hungary in 1992, died on Monday at the age of 56, Xinhua news agency reported, quoting the Hungarian news agency MTI.
On Jan 3, 1992, 28-year-old Schwarz received the heart of a 24-year-old deceased man.
Schwarz had been suffering from a congenital heart disorder for years and had been bedridden for months before the transplant surgery.
The death of the transplant survivor has been first announced to MTI by the Karoly Kos elementary school, where Schwarz had been working as a janitor. – Bernama
