KUCHING: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday received a courtesy call from the commander of First Infantry Division Headquarters in Muara Tuang Camp, Maj Gen Datuk Toh Choon Siang in Demak Jaya here.
Toh, who will be going on leave on Feb 23, will be retiring from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) on Sept 16.
He has been in the service for 42 years and eight months. To date, he is the longest-serving personnel and the first Chinese with the highest rank ever served in ATM nationwide.
According to Toh who had served in Sarawak since May 2018, he was happy with the support and cooperation from the state government throughout his service.
He expressed hoped that the ATM would continue to maintain the good rapport for the benefit of the country and the people.
He was accompanied by the division First Staff Officer Lt Col Othaman Bahadon.
