KUCHING: The first Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival (KWJF) will be held from the 29 to 30 of this month here at Grand Margherita Hotel.

According to Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, and Sports Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, they are hoping to turn it into an annual event.

“We have received good response so far and we are expecting this to be a sold out event,” he said during a press conference at Bangunan Baitulmakmur here yesterday.

He hopes that the event will attract jazz lovers from not just in the state, but also throughout the nation as well as from neighbouring countries.

“We hope it will help make Kuching Waterfront as a happening lively place,” he said.

Among the line-up for the two-day festival are two-time Grammy Award Winner Ernie Watts and The Jeremy Monteiro Organ Trio, Malaysia’s very own Dato Sheila Majid, and Indonesian Idol 2008 finalist Kunto Aji.
