DEBAK: The first phase of the Kampung Melayu Debak Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) project is set to commence soon, said Saribas assemblyman Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam.
He said the phase one of the SPK project, covering an area of 5.4 hectares, will involve earthwork, construction of concrete drains and basic utilities for main electricity sources and water pipes.
“A total of 51 out of 245 lots are to be developed in the first phase,” he said when met after his visit to the SPK project site located at Jalan Suri, here recently.
Adding further, Razi said he has also requested the contractor to set a suitable date for the proposed ground-breaking ceremony to be held later.
“The SPK project was previously requested to facilitate the villagers, especially those from Kampung Melayu Debak who still live with their families and are qualified to own their own land and residential houses.
“This is also the factor that contributes to the existing population density in the village.
“Besides that, SPK project is also one of the People’s Projects announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to assist the people of Sarawak, especially low-income groups, in owning their own residential house,” he said.
He added the SPK project is expected to be completed by October 2025.
