SIBU: Central Sarawak will have its own synthetic football field soon.
In stating this, Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee said he had announced the project on June 9 during a coordination meeting for the implementation of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for Nangka constituency.
The meeting was held at the Sibu District Office.
“The open tendering process will be held this December and construction will take around six to eight months.
“This is the latest development on the matter. I am not talking nonsense and I remain committed to realising it for the youth in Sibu,” he said after discussions with the Sibu Municipal Council (MPS), consultants and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Exco on the scope of the synthetic football field at the Nangka Service Centre here on Saturday (Oct 31).
The Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technology Research said that the field would be 105m by 68m in size. It would have six floodlights and a dressing room.
“It is located in a residential area in Taman Permai here.
“The RM2 million synthetic football field will be built on a 3.3 acre piece of land,” he explained.
