SARATOK: First term assemblyman Mohamad Duri is going the extra mile to keep his word to Kalaka constituents more than a year after they elected him to office.

He is convinced that it is his solemn duty to respond to the people’s needs no matter how busy he is.

“I always reflect, remind myself of my role and responsibility as a democratically elected representative,” said matter-of-factly

“I do not want to disappoint everyone in Kalaka so I try as much as possible, whenever time permits, to meet the people face to face.

“ I listen to their complaints and every aspiration,” he told reporters yesterday (Feb 1).

Mohamad who won the seat in the 2018 state election is thus holding steadfast to his promise to carry out his responsibilities as diligently and wisely.

Having said that he is counting on the people’s participation to jointly develop the constituency as a whole.

“Good input leads to good output and I am open to seeing anyone, if not, please get in touch with me directly or via WhatsApp alone.”

Mohamad is particularly pleased in this instance that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government set up the Betong Divisional Development Agency (BDDA) last year to strategise the development of  the Saratok district including Kalaka.

“This indicates that the people were wise to have chosen to back GPS, which has the ability to improve their lot through a number of initiatives, including the implementation of projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), Minor Rural Projects (MRP), through agencies, and the most recent BDDA.

“God willing, Saratok in general will experience changes in line with Sarawak’s goal of becoming a developed state by 2030.

“I am committed to establishing good cooperation with all parties to ensure that the aspirations of the people are met,” he stressed.
