KANOWIT: A fishing trip took a wrong turn after a fisherman had a spear pierced to his back following an alleged misfire from his fishing gun on Thursday (July 22).

It was made to understand that the victim, in his 20s, was promptly rushed to Kanowit Hospital by his family members.

At about 9.10am, the hospital contacted Kanowit fire station for an emergency assistance to cut the spear from the victim’s back.

Following the call, a team of five firemen were despatched to the scene and managed to cut the spear using special equipment.

The victim was later transferred to the hospital’s emergency unit.
