MIRI: Four juveniles and an adult were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday morning over a bullying incident at a building still under construction in Senadin which went viral on social media on July 15 this year.
The five of them pleaded guilty to rioting as soon as the charges were read before Magistrate Md Syafique Md Hilmie.
The accused, Kenny Low, 20, and the four others pleaded guilty of being involved in the incident, with intention of hurting a 13 year-old male student at 9.30am on May 23 inside the building.
They were arrested between July 15 and July 18 after a video of the incident went viral in social media and charged under Section 147 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to two years or fine, or both upon conviction.
However, the sixth accused did not appear in court.
The Magistrate’s Court has fixed August 28 for further mention of the case.
Magistrate Md Syafique Md Hilmie has set bail at RM3,000 in one surety for the offences.
