KUCHING: Five individuals were compounded after they were caught dining in a bistro at Jalan Song last night (May 13).
Acting Kuching police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the compounds were issued to the flouters after a CID team raided the premises around 9 pm.
“Four men and a woman including the premises owner aged between 23 and 50, were violating the conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“They failed to comply with SOPs where restaurants, eateries, bistros, cafe, food and beverage stalls are not allowed to allow dine-ins,” he said.
All of them were later escorted to the police station for them to be issued compounds.
Merbin urged premises owners and the community to always comply with the SOPs set from time to time, to avoid legal action by the authorities.
The police and other enforcement agencies will continue to carry out monitoring and enforcement in order to control and prevent the spread of Covid-19.
He added that the public should also play their part in breaking the Covid-19 transmission chain.
