BAU: Police here Monday (Apr 26) arrested five unemployed men for drug abuse in a house at Kampung Bidi.

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said a Bau Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) team conducted the raid around 9.45am.

“The team found five men aged between 19 and 23 in the house and detained them.

“It also discovered a plastic packet containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu. The drugs, which weighed around 0.40g and we revalued at RM40, were found inside a black bag,” said Poge, adding that investigations found the suspects were abusing drugs before the police raid.

He added that the suspects and the drugs were taken to Bau NCID office for further actions.

Background checks found that three of the suspects had past records. All five tested positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Poge stressed that the narcotics police would continue to conduct inspections from time to time around the town, villages or places suspected to have drug activities.
