KUCHING: Covid-19 claimed five lives in Sarawak on Wednesday (Aug 25), with the latest deaths pushing the toll to 508.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee disclosed that the victims were four men and a woman.

The 504th fatality was a 64-year-old local man from Sibu District who was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Aug 22.

He passed away at Sibu Hospital, having also suffered from Crohn disease.

The 505th fatality was a 44-year-old local man from Kuching District. He was confirmed positive on Aug 20.

His body was brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). He did not have any comorbid condition.

The 506th fatality was a 58-year-old local man from Serian District who was confirmed positive on July 31.

He passed away at SGH. The deceased had high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and chronic kidney disease.

Meanwhile, the 507th fatality was a 99-year-old local woman from Kuching District who was confirmed positive on Aug 23.

She passed away at SGH, and she had high blood pressure and diabetes.

The state’s 508th fatality was a 63-year-old local man from Samarahan District who was confirmed positive on Aug 22.

He passed away at SGH, having had high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic liver disease, heart disease and chronic kidney disease.
