KUCHING: The Health Department has declared five new Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak — two each in Kuching and Serian, and one in Bintulu.
The Kampung Goebilt Cluster — a community cluster — involved a few families at Kampung Goebilt, Jalan Bako in Petra Jaya.
Tests were conducted on 151 people and 54, including the index case, were positive for Covid-19 while 97 were negative.
The Lorong Temenggong Haji Gobil Cluster, also a community cluster, involved a few families residing at Lorong Temenggong Haji Gobil, Jalan Sultan Tengah in Petra Jaya.
Sixty individuals were screened and 29, including the index case, were positive while 31 were negative.
Another community cluster, the Kampung Kakeng Cluster, involved a few families residing at Kampung Kakeng, Jalan Serian Tebedu in Serian.
Ninety-four individuals were screened and 61, including the index case, were positive. Thirty-two were negative while one is still waiting for the lab result.
The Kampung Bunga Cluster, also a community cluster, involved a few families residing at Kampung Bunga, Jalan Baki in Serian.
Fifty-eight individuals were screened and 26, including the index case, were positive while 32 were negative.
Meanwhile, the Jalan Airport Lama Cluster, which is a workplace cluster, involved an employee of a financing centre in Jalan Airport Lama, Paragon Bintulu in Bintulu.
Thirty-one individuals were screened and 12, including the index case, were positive while 19 are still waiting for lab results. Ten new cases were reported on Monday (Aug 16).
At the same time, the committee said the Jalan Jambusan 2 Cluster in Bau has ended after no new cases were detected or reported involving the clusters in past 28 days.
On another note, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said Song and Pusa’s status was now orange after the districts recorded 32 and 22 cases respectively in the past two weeks.
Sarawak currently has 107 active Covid-19 clusters, 20 red zone districts, nine yellow zone districts, six orange zone districts and five green zone districts.
