KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded five new deaths related to Covid-19 infection, bringing the state’s Covid-19 death toll to 178.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 174th death was Case 29,750, a local man aged 61 years who was referred to the Sibu Hospital as he was found lifeless at home by family members.
“The case was found to have experienced symptoms of fever, cough, and sore throat a week earlier,” the committee said in a statement today.
It said a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) test was done and found positive for Covid-19 on Apr 28.
“Prior to being found lifeless and brought to the hospital on 28, it was noted the case’s condition deteriorated and he was said to have passed away on Apr 27. The case had comorbidities of high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease,” SDMC said, adding that the case was categorised as Brought In Dead (BID).
The committee said the 175th death was Case 29,756, involving a local woman aged 84 years who had received emergency treatment at Sibu Hospital as she was found to be less responsive by her family.
They said the case had symptoms of fever, cough, and loss of appetite two days before. Her rT-PCR test on Apr 27 was positive.
“Her health condition deteriorated and she passed away on Apr 28. The case had comorbidities of high blood pressure and dyslipidemia,” said the committee.
As for the 176th death, it said this was Case 17,925, a local man, aged 69, who was admitted into Miri Hospital as a result of symptomatic individual screening and he was found positive through an rT-PCR test on Apr 5.
“The case was found to have experienced symptoms of fever and cough three days before that,” they said.
They said the case’s health condition deteriorated and he passed away on Apr 29, adding that this case had comorbidities of high blood pressure, diabetes, gout, and chronic kidney disease.
“The 177th death was Case 19,832, involving a local woman, 69, who was admitted into Sarikei Hospital as a result of symptomatic individual screening. She was found positive for Covid-19 through a Rapid Test Kit Antigen (RTK-Antigen) and rT-PCR test on Apr 10.
“The case was found to have experienced symptoms of fever and cough a few days before that,” said the committee.
It said the case’s health condition had worsened and she passed away on Apr 29. The case also had comorbidities of high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney disease.
On the 178th death, SDMC said this was Case 29,250 who was a local woman, aged 32. She was referred to Sarikei Hospital as she was experiencing fever, cough, and loss of smell.
“An rT-PCR test was done and found positive for Covid-19 on Apr 28. The case deteriorated and she passed away today.
“The case had comorbidities of high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and obesity,” the committee said.
