BINTULU: Five local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have received donations during the ‘Majlis Tautan Kasih Gedong Permulaan Kami (GPK) Bintulu 2024’ held at a hotel here on Saturday night.

The NGOs included Institut Tahfiz Bintulu, Madrasah At-Taqwa Bintulu, Madrasah Tahfiz An-Nur Gedong, Sarawak Orphans’ Welfare Board (PERYATIM) Bintulu, and Urusetia Saudara Kita (USK) Bintulu.

The symbolic handover of the donations was carried out by the GPK Bintulu organising committee chairman Datuk Pengiran Daud Pengiran Putera and was witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The donations are aimed at assisting the NGOs in carrying out various educational, welfare, and dakwah programmes.

Meanwhile, the event is part of GPK’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties among the current generations whose origin can be traced from Gedong.

Among those present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; and Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; and special representative to the Premier Datuk Seri Mohd Naroden Majais.
