SIBU: Five persons including three Indonesian nationals were held in custody for allegedly stealing oil palm fresh fruit bunch (FFB) from a commercial estate in Kanowit.

Kanowit district police chief deputy Supt Tega Bilong said his assistant investigating officer Anthony Denis, on Thursday, called up two of the five suspects aged 31 and 51 pertaining to a theft incident involving the oil palm FFB.

“The duo later led the police to the estate to arrest the other three suspects aged 24, 25 and 33 at 8.05pm on Friday,” he said.

He added that the police also seized a four-wheel drive (4WD) which was laden with the stolen FFB.

The three Indonesian nationals were found to be without any travelling documents.

Tega said that the suspects will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 6(1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 for entering the state illegally.
