SIBU: Five individuals working in an office as well as in a bank, were slapped with a RM1,500 compound each today for not wearing face masks.

According to sources, a standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance monitoring operation led by Sibu deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat was conducted at the premises of the office concerned in the town area, here.

During the operation, the team found the individuals working without wearing face masks and later brought them to the central police station for compounding actions.

The compounds were issued in accordance with Regulation 1 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.

The offenders were instructed to settle the fine at the Sibu Division Health Office by May 6.

Hence, residents who are working in the office especially in the essential service sector are advised to comply with the SOPs at all times, including wearing face masks while working in the office.
