KUCHING: Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki has instructed that the Jalur Gemilang and Ibu Pertiwi flags in the state be flown at half-mast for two days starting from Jan 21 until Jan 22.
In an official circular, he mentioned that this was as a sign of respect following the demise of the former Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
Taib, 87, breathed his last at 4.40 am at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 21.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak government has also declared two days of mourning to pay tribute to the late Taib.
All official functions involving entertainment events are postponed.
