SIBU: Two individuals were burned to death when their van burst into flames after it crashed into a tree along Jalan Khong Yit Khim, here early this morning.
The unfortunate incident happened around 5.10am when the van was heading to the town centre.
Firemen from Sibu central station were promptly despatched to the scene, about 17km from the station, after receiving a distress call.
Upon arriving, the team found that the van transporting diesel barrels, was already destroyed and the extinguishing deed was carried out immediately.
The team also found that the burned victims were trapped in their seats after the van skidded and crashed into a tree.
Both bodies were extricated and handed over to the police for further action.
It was also reported that the victims’ identities were still not known.
