SIBU: The flats in Sibu Jaya will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) after 100 positive cases were recorded on Monday.

The Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) stated that the EMCO will be enforced on block C, H, J, K, L, N and R.

Today, the committee held a meeting which the coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee said determined the actions to be taken on blocks H and J which had the most positive cases.

“We will take action without causing too much trouble to the residents. We want what is best for the two blocks so that we can reduce the number of cases. There are still many cases in Sibu Jaya and we must be more careful,” said the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing when contacted today.

On Monday, Block H recorded 42 cases, Block J has 58 cases, Block C (four), Block N (two) and Block R (one).

Block M and Block G, which are not subject to the EMCO, also recorded one positive case each.

The Nangka assemblyman mentioned that out of the 149 cases in Sibu district that day, 33 were within the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) administrative area and eight were within the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) administrative area.

“The Sibu Jaya flats area had 109 positive cases which boosted the accumulated number to 1,051 cases,” he said.

On registration of vaccination applicants, he said more than 200,000 Sarawakians have registered via MySejahtera.

On this, he said the state is in fourth place after Johor, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur in the number of people registered.
