MIRI: A MASwing ATR aircraft Labuan-bound was forced to return back to Miri Airport this evening after smoke filled its cabin.
According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO), the aircraft turned around after about 19 minutes in the air.
Twenty-nine passengers were on board the aircraft which reportedly took off from Miri Airport at 4.05pm.
After it safely landed at Miri Airport, the airport management confirmed that no fire had occurred but the flight was cancelled.
All passengers were safe.
Seven firemen from Miri fire station led by PBK II Abg Mohd Fhazil rushed to the scene upon receiving a report on the incident.
