KUCHING: Bookworms, prepare to set sail! The Doulos Hope, one of the world’s largest floating book fairs, is set to dock at Kuching Port from Aug 1 to 29.

Managed by Germany-based non-profit GBA Ships, the vessel will be carrying over 2,000 quality titles across a wide range of subjects, according to its website.

“The ship is en route from Singapore and is scheduled to arrive at Kuching Port on Aug 1,” said a Kuching Port Authority (KPA) spokesperson.

The Doulos Hope underwent a transformation last year before launching its new mission in May. It is understood the ship also made a stop at Penang Port for renovation works around the same time.
Measuring 85.5 metres long and 14 metres wide, the floating bookstore will be open to the public throughout its stay in the city.

After its departure on Aug 29, it will head to Sandakan from Sept 2 to 24.
