LIMBANG: A teacher from Sekolah Kebangsaan Tedungan here became the first flood victim early yesterday morning. The victim, known as Norsiah Yusok, 52, with her husband, Duroh Sinjan, 54, was travelling from Tedungan to their house located at Taman Poyan Jaya.

Their trip was affected when the Proton Persona they were travelling in was swept away by strong currents as they drove on the Kampung Bakol bridge at 2.50am yesterday.

According to the Limbang District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai, preliminary investigations revealed that the couple managed to get out of the car.

“However, the husband who is a retired police officer of Brunei, managed to save himself but unfortunately, his wife was swept away by the strong currents.

The victim’s body was found in a rubber plantation about one kilometre from the scene by the rescue agency,” said Bukhori to the media yesterday.

He disclosed that the body was found at 9.15am in the rubber plantation and was sent to Limbang Hospital at 10.40am. The information was received from the public who witnessed the incident prior to contacting the police.
