Flood: Three more schools to close today

KUCHING: Three more schools will be closed in Sarawak today due to the floods, said the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat.

The schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tanjung Latap, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Yong Shing and SK Nanga Kain, with a total enrolment of 143 students.

This brings to eight the number of schools that would close today because of the floods, including five which were closed yesterday.

The five schools are SK Long Lenei (42 students), SK Kuala Kebulu (48), SK Bukit Balai (364), SJK Hang Kwang (15) and SK Nanga Assan (103).

Two of the schools, SK Kuala Kebulu and SK Bukit Balai had been closed since Monday due to the floods.

The secretariat said SK Sungai Genaan, SK Kuala Sigu, SK Bukit Mawang, SK Kuala Binyo, SK Long Bemang, Sk Kuala Bok, SK Long Panai, SK Nanga Balingiau, SK Ulu Bawan, SK Ukong, SK Sungai Seputi, SK Merapok, SK Temenggong Koh, SK Lepong Balleh, SK Nanga Sempili, SK Nanga Kain, SK Nanga Beguang and SK Temalat were affected by the floods but were open yesterday.
