BETONG: The master plan for the irrigation and drainage system in Betong to solve the problem of flash floods is now complete and ready to be presented.
Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu said the issue of flash floods, especially in villages and housing estates in Betong, should be given serious attention.
“We have completed the master plan of the irrigation and drainage system in Betong for long-term solution.
“Yes, it is true that it requires considerable expense. But if it is not resolved immediately, the people will continue to suffer.
“Therefore, we are committed and hope it can be implemented in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP),” he said when met by reporters at a minor rural project (MRP) cheque presentation ceremony to 29 recipients on Friday.
Earlier, Rentap presented cheque donations worth RM412,000 to 16 schools, six suraus, and seven non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to carry out their respective activities.
At the same event, he was also present for the symbolic handover of a face mask to be distributed to every head of household in the Layar constituency.
