MIRI: The authorities yesterday began to help flood victims in at least 24 places in Marudi District.
According to Sarawak Disaster Relief Management committee secretary, Major Ismail Mahedin, 843 food packets will be distributed.
“The food items will be transported using express boats and land vehicles,” he said, adding that the process will be carried out by Miri Welfare Department with the help of the Civil Defence Force (APM) Marudi, Marudi Fire and Rescue Department and the Police.
The food will be portioned as follows:- Kuala Tutoh (75 packets), SK Kuala Tutoh (1 pack); Lubok Nibong Pasar Lama (5 packets); Rumah Asong, Linei (30 packets); Rumah Antohony, Linei (28 packets); Rumah Lajang, Linei (100 packets); Rumah Sumping, Linei (168 packets); Rumah Rok, Linei (32 packets); Long Patan (10 packets); Long Pahlo (29 packets); Long Ukok (10 packets); Rumah Malor, Sator (6 packets); Logan Tassan (128 packets); Stapang A (52 packets); Stapang B (75 packets); Stapang C (38 packets); Stapang D (34 packets) and Stapang D (22 packets).
The fire department will also send relief to Lubok Kulat (20 packets); Nanga Seridan (75), Nanga Majang (74); Long Ajoi (35); Lubuk Mulung (70) and Long Sepelling (52).
Over in Marudi, its only fuel station might be closed if Baram River continues to overflow and inundate the town. The same might happen to the shop houses.
