KUCHING: The state Fire and Rescue Department is monitoring water levels in Kampung Punau, Jalan Puncak Borneo after villagers expressed concerns over flooding in the area.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre in a statement reported that the Siburan fire station received a distress call on the matter at 5.56pm today (Jan 6).
“Firefighters from Siburan station were dispatched to the scene to monitor the situation,” the statement said.
Heavy downpour since late afternoon had caused water levels to rise in Jalan Puncak Borneo, Siburan.
A video on social media which went viral showed that vehicles were stranded and unable to move in the flooded area.
Fortunately, no damages or injuries were reported among the residents.
At the time of writing, there has been no evacuation of affected residents.
