KUCHING:  Twenty-eight families involving 148 people from three villages in Debak, Betong were evacuated to flood relief centres due to rising floodwater as at 12pm yesterday.

APM members helping the affected villagers to move their belongings to safer ground.

The three villages are Kampung Bungey, Kampung Babu and Kampung Lalang.

State Disaster Management Committee in a media statement issued today said among the evacuees, three were OKU (disabled) members, eight senior citizens and three babies.

Personnel from the Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and Civil Defence Force (APM) are closely monitoring the situation and helping the affected families to move their belongings to safer and higher grounds.
