KOTA SAMARAHAN: The state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) is confident of reducing the impact of floods expected to come in January next year.
Its director Khirudin Drahman@Hussaini said all his assets and team members are ready statewide.
“I have issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) on Monday as a preliminary step in flood monitoring.
“In fact, I have also directed the chief of each zone to engage with the community including volunteer firefighters and community firefighters to participate in our flood operations,” he said at a press conference during the Kelab 3K Convention here yesterday. Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang (pic) officiated at the event.
Idris in his speech said youths should be actively involved in volunteer firefighting activities because they have the energy.
“When fires occur, they should be the ones at the frontlines while waiting for Bomba to arrive.
“Therefore, the youngsters need to be equipped with basic firefighting knowledge,” he said.
Idris went on to donate RM10,000 to the Kota Samarahan fire station for it to organise fire fighting and prevention related activities.
